Since numerical prosody is based on two pillars (sabab=MS=L=CvC=Cvv=CV=2) and (watad=MMS=SL=12=CvCvC=CvCV=3), I found it useful to comment on this subject and translate that for the benefit of the English reader.
There are two types of Arabic Prosody, one got all the attention, while the other got very little
the first is bahri, which covers all the classic meters-bohur, it has the following qualities
1-the sabab is always=MS=1o=2(o=S.).for sukun). The o=S may be omitted leaving M=1 alone.
Let us color the sabab blue and the watad red (S=V or C )then( &=(ع fA&ilon =MSMMS= 23
-*/may become (fa&ilon=1 3).
2-The watad=MMS=11o=12=3 is original and its o=S is never omitted.
neither fa&lon=MSMS=CvCCvC=22 nor fa&ilo=MSMM=211=2(2) replaces fA&ilon=MVMMS= 2 3
The second is khabab (numerical), it is
1-composed of sababs only twos =2s. It is atoms are either MS=1o=2…or MM=11=(2) each replaces the other.
2-It never accommodates fA&ilon =MVMMS=1o11o= 23
3-any watad MMS in this type is a false one for MMS=12 =3 is really within the form MMMS=(2)2=112=13
4-each of sabab-e KhafIf=2 and sabab-e saqIl =11=(2) replace each other.

fa&ilon=fa&i-Lon=CvCv-CvC=MM-MS=(2)2=13
both fa&ilon 13 and 13 have fa&i=11=MM, but (&i=M=1) in the first is part of a genuine watad, where as (&i=M=1) in the second is part of a sabab-e saqIl 11
we say 2eq(2) to mean 2 is equivalent to (2). When we say (mA=Moq=Min=2) this does not mean accurate time equality, on a time scale but rather equal in effect of vazn (meter) as far as the human ear is concerned. all are longer than M=1 which is always almost equal for all mutahrriks on the time scale. When we say mA=2 we refer to vazn and not to time, because we can say maa or maaaa or maaaaaaaa – the number of a's is an indication of the time of pronounciation. This time difference does affect the vazn.(we remember here Quran recitation) Likewise, the equality in vazn of the the three syllables (mA=Moq=Min=2) does not necessitate their accurate time equality. Nor does the difference in each sabab pronunciation time prevent each of them to be equivalent to MM=11 in Khabab. But if they are not khabab they can't be replaced by 11 instead in bohur each can be replaced by just M=1. So the equivalence or replacement is not a function of time but is a function of the prosodic law that differentiates between the two independent types of rhythm ( khababi and bahri). Both overlap in the fasilah of wafir and kamil
the difference in the time of pronunciation is clear between two types of syllables
Cvv=MV=2 and CCvv=3 (the blues)on one hand and CvC=2 and CCvC=3 (the reds )on the other.
Though this time difference does not affect vazn, but the ratio of reds/blues usually reflects a comparative difference in the interior music of the lines of the same qaseedah.
No 1 has no independent existence because it is either a result of the omission of the sukun of sabab e khafeef, or is always accompanied by another 1 in the sabab-e saqIl (=11).
Since arud is a tool to study rhythm, and since rhythm is a manifestation of repetition of similar entities, it is logical that the original independent no 1 will not be in this field, as if this is an ayah from Allah 'azza wajall pointing to his being the only independent one, besides other prosodic indications
The use of numbers in arud makes easier and facilitates the study of nations prosodies
